Moxibustion: Eastern Method of Treatment

Moxibustion is one of the methods of oriental medicine based on warming up biologically active points of the body with the help of special herbal cigars. Usually these cigars are made from wormwood, but also plants such as nettle, edelweiss, thyme, wild rosemary, caraway or juniper are used.

Heating is carried out using contactless or contact methods:

Non-contact method: The cigar is held at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from the skin, warming each point for 2-5 minutes.

Contact method: Thermal exposure is carried out through special pads, for example, made of ginger or garlic.

Moxibustion is effective in relieving pain, improving blood circulation and overall well-being. At the same time, the procedure is safe for the skin, leaving only short-term redness that quickly disappears.

Heat exposure helps eliminate fatigue, relax muscles, strengthen immunity and improve the body's condition in many diseases. The method is selected individually depending on the diagnosis and the patient's condition.

Indications for use:

Digestive disorders, flatulence, unstable stool

Fluid retention, swelling, problems with lymph flow

Neuralgia, sciatica, osteochondrosis, radiculitis

Moxibustion: An Ancient Healing Practice

Moxibustion is a traditional therapy in Eastern medicine that involves warming specific acupoints on the body using herbal sticks, typically made from mugwort. Other plants such as nettle, edelweiss, thyme, juniper, or cumin are sometimes used to craft these sticks.

The procedure can be done in two ways:

Non-contact method: The herbal stick is held 1.5–2 cm away from the skin, warming each point for 2–5 minutes.

Contact method: Heat is applied directly through protective layers like ginger or garlic slices.

Moxibustion promotes pain relief, improved blood circulation, and overall well-being. It is gentle on the skin, leaving only a temporary redness that fades quickly.

This therapy helps reduce fatigue, relax muscles, enhance immunity, and address various health issues. The specific approach is tailored to the patient's condition and needs.

Indications:

Digestive issues, bloating, irregular bowel movements

Fluid retention, edema, lymphatic stagnation

Neuralgia, sciatica, osteochondrosis, radiculitis

Muscle pain, joint stiffness, arthritis, rheumatism

Chronic respiratory conditions: rhinitis, bronchitis, asthma

Memory loss, depression, sleep disturbances

Skin conditions: eczema, psoriasis, itching

Urinary problems: painful urination, prostatitis, bladder stones

Menstrual irregularities

Contraindications:

Infectious diseases

High fever

Severe skin conditions or injuries

Intoxications, poisoning

"Hot" tumors

Moxibustion is a holistic treatment that supports the body’s natural balance and complements other therapeutic approaches.
